Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has released the official notification for the engagement of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS). Eligible candidates can apply for the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak. This is a massive recruitment drive with over 28,740 vacancies across 23 postal circles nationwide, offering a great opportunity for 10th pass candidates to secure a government job without a written exam.

India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria 

1. Educational Qualification

• Secondary School Examination Pass Certificate: Candidates must have passed the 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English (having been studied as compulsory or elective subjects) from a recognized Board of School Education.

• Language Proficiency: The candidate must have studied the local language at least up to the 10th standard.

• Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge of computers.

  • Knowledge of cycling.

  • Adequate means of livelihood.

2. Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 18 Years

• Maximum Age: 40 Years

• Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 Years

  • OBC: 3 Years

  • PwD: 10 Years (General), 13 Years (OBC), 15 Years (SC/ST)

Salary Structure (TRCA Slab)

The salary is paid in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) plus Dearness Allowance.

Selection Process

• No Written Exam: Selection will be based on a system-generated merit list.

• Criteria: The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the 10th standard (Secondary School Examination) aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals.

• Shortlisting: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification.
