Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has officially released its notification for the Apprentice Recruitment 2026.

This recruitment drive aims to engage 270 Apprentices across 10 regional establishments for a one-year training duration under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Eligible ITI, Diploma, and Degree holders in relevant disciplines can apply online through the official portal.

Stipend & Benefits

Selected apprentices will receive a fixed monthly stipend based on their qualification discipline, along with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) integration under the NATS scheme.

Additional Perk: An allowance of ₹2,500 per month will be paid additionally if POWERGRID company accommodation is not provided or availed. Apprentices are also entitled to 12 days of Casual Leave and 15 days of Medical Leave during the 1-year training period.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

All qualifications must be full-time, regular courses from a recognized Institute/University:

  • ITI – Electrician: Full-time ITI in Electrician trade.
  • Diploma (Electrical / Civil): Full-time 3-year Diploma in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
  • Graduate (Electrical / Civil): Full-time 4-year B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engg.) in Electrical or Civil Engineering.

Key Qualification Conditions

  1. Passing Window: Candidates must have passed their final exam between September 11, 2024, and September 10, 2026.
  2. Age Limit: Must have completed at least 18 years of age as of the closing date (10.09.2026).
  3. Ineligibility:
    • Awaiting final year results.
    • Already completed or undergoing apprenticeship training in any organization.
    • Possessing job experience of more than 1 year.
    • Part-time, distance, or online qualifications are not accepted.

Selection Process

The selection for POWERGRID Apprenticeship 2026 does not involve any written examination or interview.

  1. Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on the merit order of marks secured in their prescribed essential qualification (Degree/Diploma/ITI).
  2. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted applicants will be invited for document verification in a 1:5 ratio against notified seats via registered email.
  3. Final Engagement: Final engagement is subject to document clearance, medical fitness certification, police verification, and registration of the apprenticeship contract on the NATS/NAPS portal.

How to Apply Online

To complete the application process smoothly, follow these steps:

Step 1: Pre-Registration on Portal

  • For ITI Candidates: Register on the NAPS Portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) and complete 100% profile setup.
  • For Diploma / Degree Candidates: Register on the NATS Portal (nats.education.gov.in) to obtain your 16-digit Enrolment ID.

Step 2: POWERGRID Portal Application

  1. Visit the POWERGRID official website: www.powergrid.in.
  2. Navigate to Careers$\rightarrow$Engagement of Apprentices$\rightarrow$Apply Online.
  3. Select the preferred Region / State (Only one region/state allowed per candidate).
  4. Enter your NAPS/NATS Registration ID and fill in personal and educational details.
  5. Upload required documents (Photograph, Signature, Marksheets, Caste Certificate, Bank Proof).
  6. Verify all details and click on Submit. Download and save a copy of the application form for future reference.
