The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh has officially released a recruitment notification (Advertisement No. PGI/RC/055/2026/2276) for 243 vacancies of Nursing Officer (Group ‘B’). This is a Direct Recruitment drive open to eligible Indian citizens holding a B.Sc. Nursing degree or GNM Diploma.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification & Experience
Candidates must meet either of the following eligibility tracks:
- Option A:
- B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized University or Institute AND
- Registered as a Nurse or Nurse & Midwife (RN or RN & RM) with a State Nursing Council.
- Option B:
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from a recognized Board or Council, AND
- Registered as a Nurse or Nurse & Midwife with a State Nursing Council, AND
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a 50-bedded hospital after obtaining the GNM diploma.
Age Limit (As of 03.10.2026)
- Age Bracket:18 to 35 Years (Candidate must be born between the prescribed eligibility windows).
Upper Age Relaxation:
- SC / ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years (13 years for PwBD+OBC, 15 years for PwBD+SC/ST)
- PGIMER Regular Employees: Up to 10 years

Selection Process & Exam Pattern
Selection is based entirely on a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Document Verification. As per Government of India norms, no interview will be conducted for this Group ‘B’ post.
CBT Structure:
- Total Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Total Duration: 100 Minutes
- Total Marks: 100 Marks
- Marking Scheme: +1 mark for correct answers, 0.25 negative marks for wrong answers.
- Medium: English only
Minimum Qualifying Marks:
- General / EWS: 40%
- SC / ST / OBC: 35%
- PwBD: As per respective category norms

How to Apply Online

- Complete the Online Registration using your Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number, and Email ID.
- Log in with your generated User ID and Password.
- Fill in the educational, personal, and work experience details in the application form.
- Upload clear scanned copies of required documents, including your recent photograph (taken on or after July 1, 2026, with candidate name & date printed), signature, and certificates.
- Select your preferred examination city.
- Pay the application fee online and submit the application form.
- Save and print a hard copy of the final application confirmation for reference.
