OPSC Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for Language Officer (Group-B) Posts
The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released Advertisement No. 03 of 2026-27, inviting online applications for the recruitment of Language Officer (Group-B) under the Law Department. Eligible candidates can apply through the official OPSC website.

- Total Vacancies: 03 Posts
- Un-reserved (UR): 02 Posts (Out of which 01 is reserved for Women)
- Scheduled Tribe (ST): 01 Post
- Pay Scale: Rs. 35,400/- (Level-9 of Pay Matrix under ORSP Rules 2017) along with usual dearness and other allowances.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
To be eligible, a candidate must possess one of the following combinations of degrees from a recognized University:
- Graduation with Odia as an Honours subject AND Graduation in Law.
- Graduation with English as an Honours subject and Odia as a Pass or compulsory subject AND Graduation in Law.
- Post-graduation in Odia subject AND Graduation in Law.
2. Age Limit (As on 01.01.2026)
- Minimum Age: 21 Years
- Maximum Age: 42 Years (Candidate must have been born between 2nd January 1984 and 1st January 2005).
Age Relaxations:
- ST, Women, and Ex-Servicemen: 5 Years
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD – 40% or more permanent disability): 10 Years
- PwD belonging to ST category: 15 Years (Cumulative)
- In-Service Candidates: The maximum age limit is 45 years (as of 01.01.2026) for candidates with at least seven years of service, or three years of service if they possess at least one year of experience in translation work in any Group ‘C’ or Group ‘B’ post in the Government.
Application Fee
- General Candidates: ₹700/-
- SC / ST / PwD Candidates: NIL (Exempted from fee payment)
- Refund Policy: The examination fee of ₹700/- will be refunded exclusively to candidates who actually appear in both papers of the Written Examination.
Selection Process
The selection for the Language Officer post consists of two stages:
1. Written Examination (300 Marks): The exam will be subjective and held in Kataka. It consists of two papers, each carrying 150 marks with a duration of 2 hours.
- Paper-I (Degree Course Standard): Translation from English to Odia (100 words), translation from Odia to English (100 words), a short essay in English (150 words), and a short essay in Odia (150 words).
- Paper-II (LLB Course Standard): Indian Penal Code (1860), The Code of Civil Procedure (1908), The Code of Criminal Procedure (1973), and The Indian Evidence Act (1872). Candidates can answer Paper-II in either Odia or English.
2. Viva-Voce Test (40 Marks): Candidates securing at least 40% marks in aggregate in the written test (35% for ST candidates) will be called for the Viva-Voce. The interview will also cover questions from the Prashasan Sabdakosha published by Odia Bhasa Pratisthan.

- Fill out the online application form with accurate personal and educational details.
- Upload scanned images of your latest passport-size photograph, full signature, and Left-hand Thumb Impression (LTI).
- Pay the examination fee of ₹700/- online (if applicable).
- Submit the form and print a hard copy of the finally submitted application for future reference and document verification.
