OPSC Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for 22 Assistant Horticulture Officer (Group-B) Posts

The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released an official notification (Advertisement No. 06 of 2026-27) for the recruitment of Assistant Horticulture Officers (Group-B) under the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha. These positions are temporary but are highly likely to continue in the regular state cadre.

Special Horizontal Reservations:

Salary and Pay Scale

  • Pay Scale: Level-10, Cell-1 of the ORSP Rules, 2017 Pay Matrix.
  • Pre-revised Scale: PB-2 (₹9,300 – ₹34,800/-) with a Grade Pay of ₹4,600/-.
  • Usual Dearness Allowance (DA) and other entitlements will be provided as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Limit (As on 01.01.2026)

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: 42 Years
  • Birth Window: Candidates must be born between 2nd January 1984 and 1st January 2005 (both dates inclusive).

Upper Age Relaxations:

  • SC / ST / Women / Ex-Servicemen: Relaxable by 5 Years.
  • Persons with Permanent Disabilities (PwD): Relaxable by 10 Years.
  • SC/ST candidates with PwD status: Cumulative benefit up to 15 Years.

2. Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree in Horticulture or a B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture from a university or institution recognized by any State Government or the Government of India.
  • Note: No other equivalent technical or educational qualification will be considered.

3. Odia Language Proficiency

Applicants must be able to fluently read, write, and speak Odia. They must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

  • Passed Middle English School Examination with Odia as a language subject.
  • Passed Matriculation/Class 10 with Odia as a medium of examination in a non-language subject.
  • Passed Class 7 or equivalent with Odia as a language subject from a government-recognized school.

Application & Examination Fee

  • General / SEBC Categories: ₹700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred only) payable online.
  • SC / ST / PwD (Odisha Domicile): Fully exempted from paying the fee.
  • Fee Refund Clause: The paid registration fee will be refunded directly to the candidate’s original payment method if they successfully appear in both papers of the Written Examination.

Method of Selection

The selection structure comprises two primary phases:

Phase I: Written Examination (200 Marks)

  • Consists of Paper-I (100 Marks) and Paper-II (100 Marks), entirely focusing on Horticulture subjects.
  • Format: Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ pattern) evaluated via OMR sheets.
  • Time Duration: 2 Hours allowed per paper.
  • Negative Marking: A penalty of 25% (0.25 marks) is enforced for each incorrect answer.

Phase II: Personality Test / Interview (25 Marks)

  • Candidates matching the minimum qualifying thresholds fixed by the Commission will be shortlisted for the interview round in a general ratio of 1:2.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official OPSC portal at opsc.gov.in.
  2. Access the registration link under the e-Chayan window to fill out the proforma application.
  3. Upload scanned original copies of your matriculation certificate, higher secondary documents, graduation degree, mark sheets, and category certificates.
  4. Upload a fresh passport-size photo, your digital signature, and a left-hand thumb impression (LTI).
  5. Complete the fee transaction (if applicable) and download the system-generated printout featuring your Permanent Public Service Account Number (PPSAN). Keep a signed hard copy safely for document verification.
