RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 : Apply Online for 6557 Grade I & III Posts
The Government of India, Ministry of Railways, Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) has issued the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 02/2026 for the recruitment of Technicians. Applications are invited from eligible candidates for 6,557 vacancies for the posts of Technician Grade-I Signal and various categories of Technician Grade-III.

Eligibility Criteria : RRB Technician Recruitment 2026
1. Age Limit (As on 01.07.2026)
- Technician Grade-I Signal: 18 to 33 years.
- Technician Grade-III: 18 to 30 years.
- Age Relaxation: Applicable age relaxations include 5 years for SC & ST candidates, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, and 10 to 15 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) depending on their category.
2. Educational Qualifications
- Technician Grade-I Signal: Bachelor of Science in Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / Information Technology / Instrumentation from a recognized University/Institute; OR B.Sc. in a combination of any sub-stream of the basic streams; OR Three years Diploma in Engineering in the above basic streams; OR Degree in Engineering in the above basic streams.
- Technician Grade-III (Most Categories): Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade; OR Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade.
- Technician Grade-III (S & T): Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trade of Electrician / Electronics Mechanic / Wireman; OR Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship; OR 10+2 with Physics and Maths.
Application Fee
- For all candidates (except those mentioned below): Rs. 500/-. (An amount of Rs. 400/- shall be refunded, duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT).
- For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities or Economically Backward Class (EBC): Rs. 250/-. (This fee of Rs. 250/- shall be refunded, duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT).
- Payment Mode: ONLINE fee payment only through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI will be accepted.
RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 : Selection Process
The recruitment process shall comprise the following stages:
- Computer Based Test (CBT): There will be a separate CBT for each pay level.
- CBT for Technician Gr I Signal: 100 questions in 90 minutes. Subjects include General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basics of Computers and Applications, Mathematics, and Basic Science and Engineering.
- CBT for Technician Gr III: 100 questions in 90 minutes. Subjects include Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness.
- Negative Marking: There will be negative marking at the rate of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer in the CBT.
- Document Verification (DV): Candidates will be shortlisted for DV based on their marks and merit in the CBT for the respective Pay Levels.
- Medical Examination (ME): Candidates called for DV will have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure they are medically fit to carry out the connected duties.
How to Apply RRB Technician Recruitment 2026
- Candidates must apply ONLINE only through the link provided on the official RRB websites.
- Candidate must first ‘Create an Account’ for this CEN by using the provided link.
- A separate application must be submitted for each Pay Level, and the applicable Examination Fee must be paid separately for each Pay Level.
- Each candidate must choose only one RRB for each specific Pay Level.
- The application module is designed to capture a live photograph of the candidate at the time of filling up the application form via web cam or front mobile camera.
- Candidates are required to upload a scanned copy of their signature in JPG/JPEG format (File size between 30 KB and 49 KB) and an SC/ST Certificate in PDF format (if requesting a Free Train Travel Pass).
